“Who doesn’t love free stuff? I’m highly competitive, so I absolutely love free stuff from raffles or dumb contests at family gatherings, etc - stuff that you don’t pay for but that you feel like you deserve since you ran a little faster or found more Easter eggs than someone else. How does it make me feel? Awesome!

The best free thing I ever got was my grandpa’s old jacket. It’s really well-made and after a trip to the cleaner’s it looked awesome. Whenever I wear it I always get compliments. And when people ask where I got it, I just reply, “Oh, it’s vintage” and walk away trying to look as chic as possible.”

Barefoot Tess partnered with ShoeHunting.com to offer a free pair of shoes to one winner based on most embarrassing shoe story submission. There were several hysterical entries, but one in particular captured our attention and tickled our senses beyond the rest. Congrats to Allyson, and may her feet be stink free in Barefoot Tess’s quality footwear from now on:

“About a year ago I got a new job that required me to completely revamp my wardrobe. I was shopping on a pretty tight budget - it was my first job after grad school - and against my better judgment decided I could skimp on some basic items. I purchased a pair of black patent (read “plastic”) ballet flats at a discount store. They were fairly comfortable, got the job done, and would last me until I could afford something of higher quality - or so I thought.

During my first week at work I wore them three times. On the third day, I was sitting in a meeting when I noticed a terrible smell coming up from under the table. My feet had been sweating in those plastic shoes and they were *stinky*! Unfortunately, I wasn’t the only one who noticed. A coworker commented on it, in the middle of the meeting, and soon everyone was talking about it. I tried to joke along with the others, playing like it wasn’t me, but I wanted to melt into the floor! Needless to say, I threw out the flats that night. Lesson learned: don’t skimp on the shoes!”

My birthday is in February, so let’s just get it out of the way that Feb is the best month of the whole year (not a personal bias, it is just a fact. Beautiful white snow, a few precious days shorter than all the others which makes it unique and special, and a glorious day full of praise, gifts, and attention for yours truly. How could that not qualify as the best month?).

Other than Feb, my favorite months are the summer months - full of sun, laughter, vacation days, and no wake motor boat trips around an adorable chain of lakes. This year, however, I have an even better reason to love the summer months… or more specifically the transition from May to June. Why? Why I’ll tell you:

Once again I am impressed and ecstatic about the enthusiasm and plethora of guesses (and some so early in the morn!). Most impressed, of course, by the winning guess who not only correctly identified the famous feet - but also made a very educated guess of the shoes themselves (to be honest, I am not sure what style they are exactly… but they’re so cute!).
