<description>I totally agree! Most of my closet consists of all the pieces you enumerated. I invest in basics like cardigans and good pants and then use nice belts, jewelery and, of course, nice shoes as accent pieces! I always feel comfortable and can easily go from work to school and then out with friends. Thanks to Barefoottess I can now indulge in beautiful flats and boots that rival my small-footed friends!
@ M.W. : LOL I live in Canada and the same thing happens to me everyday! I overdress or under-dress; the weather here is so unpredictable! Here too everyone seems obsessed with North Face fleeces...

<description>For me, the difficulty in getting ready in the morning is the weather. I live in New England, and it&#039;s anybody&#039;s guess what the weather will do on a given day. Take today, I had my outfit planned, last night. It was going to be cute sweater dress, A-line tee underneath, apple red tights, and Corso Como Madrid booties. Perfect. It was supposed to be 60 degrees, so I figured it would be upper 40s in the morning, and would max at 60 after noon. When I got outside today, it was muggy and warm, already near 60, and would only get warmer. Too warm for my outfit. Like a fool, I wore it anyway because I was disappointed that I wasn&#039;t going to be able to. I switched to brown cargos, long sleeve tee, and a nice pair of running shoes (which I don&#039;t mind wearing at all, I think they can be quite fashionable). I still look pulled together, but that is only because I put alot of work into my wardrobe every day.

I think you are totally right about fleeces. They are so ugly. I get tired of seeing all these newbie New Englanders with their north face fleeces or whatever other lesser known brand. I have Columbia Fleeces, but they are for underneath heavy winter jackets, when it is below freezing. Nobody sees them.

I do not do trenches nor peacoats, but I have a very nice set of warm (and not-so-warm) winter jackets.
