Mid-Life Ugg Crisis
November 3rd, 2009 by The Barefoot Blogger: Laura Kleinbaum
It’s been years now since I received my first pair of Uggs. They were Classic Tall Chestnut. Over the years, my style evolved from miniskirts to tucked skinny jeans, but I hung onto the Uggs. In the old days, they were new and cool, and really appealed. I fell in love. We did everything together from bar-hopping to mall-shopping. But times change. People change. Years into our relationship, I grew tired of them. They were old hat. Their leather grew wrinkles and age spots—I never wore them out on Saturday night. Instead, I left them home, relegated to the back of the closet under a heap of puffy down Gap vests, Abercrombie polos, and a knit poncho. I wanted something new, something fresh, something exciting. The thing is though, I still wanted comfort and warm feet. I was just bored and sick of the same lackluster standby. I wanted to trade them in for a new model. I wanted a mistress.
Here’s what I found :
The Koolaburra ‘Plume’: They’re very “It Girl.”
The Australia Luxe Collective ‘Angel’: A little intimidating, as they’re so bad ass. The trick is, you don’t just wear them. You ROCK them.
The Australia Love ‘Corset’: And you thought these boots couldn’t be feminine.
The Muk Luks ‘Sweater Knit’: The perfect Sunday brunch boot. (Fit Tip: They’re great for supple calves.)
The Australia Love ‘Spat’: Fashion forward and uniquely interesting. You won’t see yourself coming and going in these boots.
I can’t promise I won’t want to grow old with my original ratty Uggs some day, so for now I keep these new boots in a seperate closet. They’re young. They’re hot. They turn heads. And I feel better than ever!
Get them all from Barefoot Tess!

I admit, I’ve always though of Ugg-style boots as rather, well, ugly, but these updated options are super adorable! The Australia Luxe Collective Angel’s are gorgeous and so rocker chic, and the Muk Luk Sweater Knits look about 10x cuter to me now that I can see them on a live model. Looks like my feet actually might be warm AND cute this winter

I have always liked Uggs, but more for living in the mountains and lots of snow. They were quite functional and better looking than some of the big old rubber boots people wear up there. Now that I don’t live up in the mountains anymore, I still have a love for big ugly after ski boots anyway. Oh well. To each their own, if only that were true lol.

I just got myself a pair of the Muk Luks sweater boots and I <3 them! Very warm cozy and stylish. I highly recommend everyone picks up a pair – but not if you live near me. I like to be unique.
