“Hark the Herald Angels Sing…”

October 1st, 2009 by admin

This just in! In news categories raging from what the??, to pure, unadulterated hilarity, to stunned disbelief, to reports of hell actually developing a distinct chill and threatening to freeze over any minute, Bob Dylan, yes Bob Dylan, one-time–well one time reliable non-maker of Christmas albums–has gone and made, yes, a Christmas album. Sorry, blew the surprise there. But honest to God, he’s done it. It’s called Christmas in the Heart and tracks include Here Comes Santa Claus and Winter Wonderland.

Now perhaps he’s just being advanced, but looking at the cover…

makes us think this might be the craziest thing he’s ever done.

Or it’s up there at least.

In related news, we’re selling our BFT ‘Doll’ Flats for under 40 bucks…

I think the doll flats are some of the cutest shoes I’ve seen! I am so excited to find your website and blog! I’ve always had big feet and started with a size 12 when I got married! 5 kids and almost 9 years later I am a glorious size 14 or close to it and finding shoes is almost impossible! Thank you for believing that big feet need style too!

I’ve spent all morning trying to figure out why those cute BFT Doll flats were “related news.” Perhaps the inference was that Mr. Dylan was going to buy a pair for his “Tombstone Blues” mama in the factory, who “ain’t got no shoes”? Or maybe he just has a thing for shoes, since he also mentions his “ramblin’ shoes” in “Freight Train Blues”? And then I figured it out! In “Positively 4th Street,” he sings:

“Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
    You’d know what a drag it is…”

Shoes? Drag? Obviously, he’s putting together a kicky Mrs. Claus costume to wear when he performs selections from his new Christmas album, and he thinks the black Doll flats are just the thing. Duh.

(I mean really, Bob Dylan in drag is a less horrifying thought than Bob Dylan recording a Christmas album. Eesh.)
